Renesas launches new low-power RL78 prototype development board

Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a leading global semiconductor solution provider, has launched a new low-cost and feature-rich RL78 / G14 rapid prototype development board to enable rapid product development of IoT terminal equipment. With faster prototype development and lower costs, users have the flexibility to respond to rapid changes in technology and markets, and reduce time to market for new products. In addition, Renesas also introduced the RL78 / G1D BLE module expansion board. Users can use it with a new prototype board to easily add Bluetooth® Low Energy wireless communication capabilities.

The new prototype development board is based on the RL78 / G14 microcontroller (MCU), which provides the richest feature set in the low-power RL78 product family, suitable for motor control, IoT sensors and most IoT terminals in portable devices Equipment such as home appliances, industrial equipment, building automation, and medical and health equipment.

Renesas Internet of Things and Infrastructure Division, Vice President of MCU Product Solutions Business Division, Sino-Western Regulations, said:" As the innovation speed of IoT devices continues to accelerate, the ability to realize new ideas and prototype designs has become the key to business success . The new prototype development board will help our customers to quickly start the development process and accelerate new product launches to help their business success. "

特性 Key features of RL78 / G14 rapid prototype development board:

Past RL78 / G14 starter kits and target boards required external emulators, and the high-performance version incurs additional costs. The newly released prototype development board is an affordable and on-board emulator with the same features as the E2 Emulator Lite (E2 Lite), without the need to purchase additional debugging tools. The new development board has access to all RL78 / G14 signal pins, including Arduino and Pmod? Interfaces, for easy function expansion. In addition, combining the Semtech SX1261 or SX1262 LoRa? Transceiver with this prototype development board enables LoRa? Wireless communication-based IoT sensor devices to achieve longer battery drive time in prototype design (Note 1). Not only does Renesas offer circuit boards, it also provides product-related example code and application notes, as well as circuit diagrams, parts lists, and user manuals needed to start development.

About RL78 / G14 MCU

RL78 / G14 is one of the powerful MCUs in the RL78 product family, which can achieve 51.2 DMIPS digital processing performance at 32 MHz. It contains up to 512 KB of flash memory and 48 KB of RAM, and provides functions such as timers and 8-bit D / A converters. When the CPU operates in standby mode at 240 nA, it can reach the industry's lowest current consumption level (66? A / MHZ). This MCU is very suitable for battery-powered portable devices, IoT sensor terminals and various IoT terminal devices.
